How often should I tune my piano?

Utah’s climate is dry, high-altitude, and very swingy between seasons, which makes pianos drift out of tune faster than in coastal states.

Most Utah pianos should be tuned every 6–12 months, and homes with wood stoves, fireplaces, or strong HVAC cycles may benefit from more frequent checks.

How much does a tuning cost?

We believe in upfront, transparent pricing with no hidden fees. We offer four service tiers based on the condition of your instrument:

$89 — Value Tune: Best for pianos serviced within the last 12 months.

$119 — Tuneup + Care: Includes a full tuning plus interior vacuuming and cleaning.

$149 — Signature Service: Precision tuning, deep interior cleaning, and a full exterior polish.

$299 — Piano Renewal Service: A 6–8 hour intensive service for neglected or inherited instruments.

Do you charge for travel?

We aim to keep my pricing as simple and affordable as possible. Our travel policy is straightforward:

• 0–20 miles: No travel fee

• 21–40 miles: $20

• 41–60 miles: $40

• Beyond 60 miles: Quote provided before booking

My piano sounds fine. Do I really need a tuning?

Even if your piano doesn’t sound “bad,” you’ll be surprised by how much clearer, richer, and more vibrant it sounds after a proper tuning. Most pianos slowly drift out of tune in Utah’s dry climate, and because it happens gradually, you don’t notice it until you hear the difference side-by-side.

My piano hasn’t been tuned in years. Will that cost extra?

Nope! Most tuners in Utah charge $30–$80+ for a pitch raise on older or neglected pianos, but we include pitch raises for free with every tuning.

Most long-neglected pianos just need a pitch raise and a careful tune, and we’ll get it sounding as good as it can — without surprise fees.

How long does a tuning take?

Usually between 2-3 hours, depending on how far out of tune it is from Utah’s dry air and seasonal changes.

Do I need to do anything before you come?

No preparation needed — We handle everything.

Just let us in and we take care of the entire process from setup to cleanup.

Do you work on all types of pianos?

Yes — We tune uprights, consoles, studios, baby grands, grands, and even older family heirlooms that have been in Utah homes for decades.
